The church did great work on Sunday. We moved in several students, handed out 50 welcome packets and a bunch of really delicious cookies to the dorm students at FSCC. You guys did an amazing job. God deserves all praise.
I heard of a couple of conversations with a young man from Tampa. When he saw Tampa was on our “You are now leaving Fort Scott” card he was excited and wondered if we had a church in Tampa. My response is, “Not yet!”
I can’t wait to continue building relationships with those young men and women at FSCC. I hope you will get involved as you see opportunity.
Upcoming stuff:
We have had some inquiries about Baptism. Sunday morning at 9:15 we will be meeting in one of the downstairs classrooms to teach on baptism and give an opportunity to respond in obedience to Jesus’ command. If you are interested, or you have children interested, please make every effort to be there promptly. There is a good chance that we will be baptizing people Sunday afternoon at the Self’s pool. I will let you know more on Sunday morning.
Sending Party: Anna and Molly are leaving next week to go to their Year Team assignments. I can’t believe the time of departure is already here. We want to send these young ladies off in style, so we are having a luncheon after church this Sunday at the Studers house. It will be potluck, so just bring your favorite dish. The church will provide paper goods and drinks. Contact Annette at 223-2869 if you need more information.
Fifth Friday Fasting and Prayer: August 29 (just a week from Friday) is our fifth Friday fasting and prayer time. We will be gathering Friday evening to break the fast together. We will gather at 5:30 at the building for prayer until about 6:30, then we will eat waffles together.
Family Meeting: Friday August 29 at 7:30 we will be having a family meeting to discuss past successes and future plans of Abundant Grace Church. If you are a committed member, then please be at this meeting. During this meeting we will be sharing vision about children’s ministry changes, thoughts about purchasing a building and a financial gift day in the near future. Contact me if there are circumstances that prevent you from being there.
I feel confidence to say, like Moses, “Come with us, we will do you good.” I hope you will join us in this mission of being transformed by the gospel and changing the world around us.
Keep making forward progress,
Steve
