Back from Celebrating

We are back from Celebration Midwest 2008. I personally had a great time. The worship was magnificent. Thanks to Jack and Tommy for leading so brilliantly. The teaching was encouraging and convicting. Thanks for John Lanferman and Terry Virgo. The prophetic words were hitting the mark. Wendy Virgo’s opening word about losing her wallet was so very helpful. Her prophetic song about cliff climbing was also right on target.

Many thanks to Annette, Angela, Karissa, Bailee and Molly for your help with Volleyball. Max was very thoughtful and helpful for providing water for the outdoor recreation. Thanks for the initiative. Larry and Vickie did a great job with the third graders on Friday night. Kudos to Anna for getting to lead her first song at Oneblaze.

The offering on Saturday evening was amazing. I don’t know what the final count was, but the giving was around $115,000. I am not sure how many adults and teens were in that meeting, but it could not have been over 600 people. That is some huge generosity.

I want to encourage you to latch on to the things God spoke to you over the weekend. Don’t get lazy concerning the promises. Keep pressing into God through worship, prayer and listening to God for the purpose of obedient faith.

Let’s see what God will do with our little band here in Fort Scott, Kansas and beyond.

Celebration Midwest Weekend

It may seem strange to some of you that we would cancel our weekend meeting so we could travel a few hours to be with other churches. I am thrilled that twenty-two of us are making the trek to Warrensburg, MO to join the Newfrontiers family of churches from the Midwestern US for a time of celebration, vision and renewal in the Holy Spirit.

Our connection with these other churches is not based merely in a fellowship of pastors and “church professionals.” Our connection is grassroots and organic. This is one opportunity out of the year to be with friends and family from other churches who just happen to be working in other parts of God’s vineyard.

It will be great to hear from men like Terry Virgo and John Lanferman as they teach and envision us. It will be amazing to worship with 800 or so enthusiastic and energetic worshipers. I am fully anticipating a profound sense of God’s presence as he speaks to us and touches us with His presence.

Mingled with all of this is conversations with believers who are in churches similar to ours and hearing the wonderful reports of what God is doing in their situations. It will also be great to share what God has been doing among us.

We will be back at 728 Heyman on Sunday the 15th at 10 AM.

If you aren’t able to go to Celebration Midwest with us, I am really sorry that you can’t go, but I hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend with no church obligations. Sleep in, have brunch, go fishing, play golf, relax with your family… and yes, if you want to, you can go to another church meeting in another location.
